Creature Hunt

Terrible. There are many aspects of the game making it inconceivably unplayable. The graphics, the lie of being a creature, The objective of the game, etc. This game should be less $ than 5$, and this comes from 2 people of over 1000's of hour of playtime. Graphics: The graphics on low cause the game to glitch out the textures of trees, grass, the sky, etc. Creature: After exploring 3 quarters of the map over 20 minutes, we couldn't find one sign of the creature. Objective: There is no objective to this game. You roam around a pointless map trying to find an objective, when THERE ISN'T ONE... P.S. I got a refund, thank you...

By modern standards, there's barely a game here. It would be a moderately ambitious student demo project. Setep options are very limited, but refeshingly clear and simple. There are settings for "resolution", "quality", "audio" and "mouse". The game correctly detected my native resolution, and pre-set my quality to what appears to be the maximum level. I assume the other settings are for audio level and mouse sensitivity, but no in-game explanation is offered for any of the values in the settings. Simple as they are, there should be some tooltips or something. Mechanically things are pretty good. Movement is smooth and predictable, although a "sprint" mode is badly needed as the default movement speed is frustratingly slow. There's very limited interactions with the world. I found myself going back to the steam store page becuase I'd seen that there were some rudimentary instructions there, and those turned out to be the most complete instructions available. IMPORTANT: Sadboi dev and his friends now throwing little baby tantrums on accounts that rightfully left this a negative review and writing false positive ones about how you're just not "dedicated" enough. lel. Reviews are filled with the most important aspect missing in this game: The monster. Because there isn't one. It's just an empty map with a bunch of crap you can pick up to "hunt" a monster that doesn't exist.

Instantly left the house and went searching while sprinting. Your energy never runs out. Changed direction every time I heard the creature. Never found him. After 18 minutes I couldn't take any more... I got this for 90% off ($1.49) and I'm still going to return it based on principal alone.

Is there even a creature lurking around? Do the cameras do anything? What?

There is no real guidance in how to play the game, no ability to use certain items, and it is very dark as in no light. I walked out in the woods to hopefully just be attacked. Nothing happened.

If you played Bigfoot or the Rake, then you know what you are getting here. More of the same. Not much in the form of gameplay or polish, world is empty and there is no way to save. Not worth the price.

EDIT: There is a monster. I won't give too much away, but it is indeed out there. It has nothing to do with the foxes, but doesn't seem to like you placing cameras. Search for his boss music. Good hunting. This one was certainly interesting and creepy. You start out at home, loading up on weapons, ammo, cameras and first aid kits. You hear the creature, which sounds like a fox crossed with a cougar, as you stock up. You can then drive, walk or jog around the map, placing cameras and being on the alert for the creature. There is one NPC, a lot of foxes, and one monster. I think I hit every location, and I heard a man scream like he was being murdered once. I ran towards the screams, and even ran towards the creature's howls. I couldn't find the creature on repeated hunts, but there's really no guidance as to where to put cameras. At locations? Between places? You get a flashlight, and the truck eventually runs out of gas. But there is a fox. Who shocked me so much I barely got a ...

At first I was almost inclined to believe the naysayers in the review section below that there actually was no creature in the game. However, I have full trust in the Bigfoot Forest developer and knew this would not be the case. Sure enough, 72 minutes later I was able to successfully find and kill the creature which is really scary. I highly recommend this game if you like open-ended games and exploration. I counted at least 30 unique locations you can visit all with special hidden treasures to find. Your car is your most valuable asset, I would recommend coming up with a name for him/her quickly and get drviing. You can always stop at the gas station for more gas. Overall, this was another fantastic experience from the developer of hits such as Bigfoot Forest and At Home that have all become games my future children will play if I have any. To all the comments saying there is no monster, there is. Though it never actually attacked me, i just kinda followed it around and killed it and this all took maybe 1 hour.
