I'm sorry. I don't get it. This is quite possibly the most boring game I've ever played in my life. It's like the worst part of every puzzle game ever made. Sim City meets Tetris meets staring at a freshly painted wall. The building designs are completely bland and boring. Some of them are completely indistinguishable from each other. They could at least give the buildings unique designs that help you remember which ones you've placed and which ones will best compliment them. Overall, the gaming equivalent of riding a broken roller coaster. Incredibly boring.

The gameplay of ISLANDERS is pretty intuitive. You start with a set of buildings in your inventory that you can place on your island. Placing buildings is rewarded with points. The amount of points you get depends on what surrounds the buildings when you place them. Gather enough points to refill your inventory and unlock new buildings.
Once your city is big enough you may choose to travel to the next island (they are generated procedurally, so you can literally keep exploring forever). If you run out of buildings the game ends. This is where you high five yourself for beating the high score, take a proud last glance at the epic city you've built and start just one more round...
ISLANDERS is inspired by amazing games like:
- Bad North
- Anno
- The Settlers
- Sim City
- Kingdoms and Castles

An amazing, simple game that is perfect for relaxation. There is JUST enough depth in handling city layout and navigating around tricky terrain generation that it doesn't become too mindless and boring. If you want a chill game to wind down and simply enjoy with as little pressure as possible, this game is the perfect choice I'd say.
Puzzley and relaxing. There is nothing here, but to try and get a better score. Strangely addicting.
A calming minimalist city-builder you play in your own pace. The challenge is maximizing limited space of tiny islands by placing buildings strategically. Meditative music and shifting day-night cycle makes this game a perfect "before bed" game.
Read until the end to potentially avoid a bug that will make the game unplayable. At first I really liked this game, although it doesn't have a lot of content, and it's not a game you spend hours in building a city, it is very good to chill for about half an hour, build a small town and then move on to another island. I personally think the sandbox mode is the best experience this game has to offer, as I grew quite tired of the ranked mode shortly after I finished my 2nd Island. There is one big problem however, that made my game unplayable, and is really unfortunate, considering it was reported at around the same time the game was launched, and it was never fixed. Whenever I launch the game, I find it is stuck on the loading screen forever, and the only official fix provided by the devs requires downgrading the game to a beta version, which considerably reduces the quality of the game, and resets all progress.
I got this game for 1 euro and 24 cents, and i dont want to be biased but it is just not a good game. -gameplay is very dull -kinda luck based -it does not require any brainpower whatsoever, you just hover the buildings around until you see the biggest plus to your score. On the positive side, -very relaxing -the graphics are really good -extremely cheap (5 euro's non-discounted) So i'd rate it a 3/10 overall
I was on the fence about purchasing this game for a while and it sat in my wishlist for a few months before I decided to purchase it. I do not regret it at all as I have found myself easily dedicating hours at a time to trying to move onto the next island. You need to put thought into what you build and where as it could cost you the points needed to move forward. The only thing I wish were different was that I could start over on the island that I failed rather than have to start over again from island one. Overall I am sure once I've lost interest that I will come back to this game in the future and enjoy it all the same.
It's relaxing yet thrilling and competitive if you want to use the highscore mode. It is a nice oasis over all other demanding and grinding games. :)
This is one of the most relaxing games. Content-wise its a bit barren but in that simplicity it thrives. It's an easy pick up and go type game for any mood
Islanders is complex and deceptively addictive, if you're the right type of player. Thanks to the procedurally generated islands and semi-random drip-feed of buildings, it's got a similar appeal to a roguelike -- not the build variety, but the challenge variety. The amount and kinds of terrain and wildlife all matter a ton to how you build to maximize points, so each island presents its own completely unique challenge. The challenge may feel overly simple: there's not that many building types, the game tells you how each building scores points when you hover over one, and it shows you where you can get the max number of points with each building before you place it. But because you've got limited space, how well you plan ahead dramatically effects how many points you can get. Having strategies to keep your options open and make up for suboptimal choices is not just possible, but very important, and very fun. The game is forgiving, but small mistakes add up, just like big accidents do...
