Okay, after *checks notes* two years in which this game got tons of patches and more or less a complete rewrite, I decided to come back to this game because, well, why not. It's pretty similar overall to my memories and review here, but the game balance is wildly better until the last third of the game, where it becomes a slugfest of using your few incredibly overpowered things to take out their incredibly overpowered units that get you killed instantly, or you using the Omnistaffs from the bonus shop to make your characters into invincible gods with 99 in all stats, a thing I avoided since it seemed like it'd make the game too easy. This was much less frustrating than the previous version, but it was still similar, with magic being the only useful thing for much the last third of the game due to its ridiculous ranges, instead of multi-hit swords being the only useful thing. Likewise, thankfully the 90% survival bosses were deleted... but the final stage has you grinding down a 999 HP ...

I enjoy it. There's no compelling story, there's just enjoyable turn-based tactics battles. If you're looking for something that plays like Fire Emblem, I'd recommend it. As others have said, there are balance issues around certain weapons and talents (usually in the player's favor), but the maps can be truly challenging even with an OP talent or two on the player's side. Tactics RPG fans will definitely enjoy it. No frills but plenty of perks. And the dev's actually been working quite a bit to continue updating it.
Normal: Your units are immortal. I didn't enjoy playing like this. But Hard: Your units are dead forever if they die once. I enjoyed Hard much more than Normal. And can recommend the game after experiencing this. f4 - fullscreen f11 - brings back to menu
Just started the game but I already know I will finish it to completion. Feels exactly like an older fire emblem but without classic mode. I would enjoy a classic mode challenge, however the third level entails a boss that has a 50% crit rate on multiple people so I would not enjoy losing a character that early. Really fun game, definitely worth the 99 cents it costs. Only thing I do not like is how free it is to laterally promote characters. I feel if you promote your mage to a sage, the option to become a bishop or high priest(ess) should no longer be available.
