About the Game

The latest instalment in the award-winning series, Sniper Elite 5 offers unparalleled sniping, tactical third-person combat and an enhanced kill cam. Fight your way across the most immersive maps yet, with many real-world locations captured in stunning detail, and an improved traversal system that lets you explore more of them than ever before.

France, 1944 – As part of a covert US Rangers operation to weaken the Atlantikwall fortifications along the coast of Brittany, elite marksman Karl Fairburne makes contact with the French Resistance. Soon they uncover a secret Nazi project that threatens to end the war before the Allies can even invade Europe: Operation Kraken.

EXPANSIVE CAMPAIGN
Many real-world locations have been captured using photogrammetry to recreate a living, immersive environment, and multiple infiltration and extraction points and kill list targets provide a whole new perspective on each mission. Take on the Nazi plot solo or work with a partner, with improved co-op mechanics allowing you to share ammo and items, give orders and heal each other.

ADVANCED GUNPLAY PHYSICS AND TRAVERSAL
Use ziplines, slide down slopes and shimmy along ledges to reach the perfect vantage point, or to sneak past a sharp-eyed lookout. Factor in rifle stock and barrel options along with gravity, wind and heart rate while you line up your sights on the target.

HIGH CALIBRE CUSTOMISATION
Use workbenches to customise and upgrade virtually every aspect of your weapon – change scopes, stocks, barrels, magazines and more. Rifles, secondaries and pistols all have a huge variety of options. On top of that you can select the ammo to suit your target, from armour-piercing right down to non-lethal.

INVASION MODE – CAMPAIGN DROP IN PvP AND CO-OP
Invade another player’s Campaign as an Axis sniper and engage in a deadly game of cat and mouse, providing a new dimension to the challenge as you stalk your prey. Alternatively, as Karl you can call for assistance and have a second sniper drop in to help you out of a tricky situation.

TENSE ADVERSARIAL MULTIPLAYER
Customise your character and loadout and earn XP, medals and ribbons as you take on intensely competitive 16 player battles that will really test your sharpshooting skills. If co-op’s more your style, you can team up with up to 3 other players against waves of enemies in Survival mode.

ENHANCED KILL CAM
More realistic and grisly than ever, the trademark X-ray kill cam returns, showing you the true destructive power of each shot. Bones deflect bullets unpredictably, ripping a new path through enemy bodies. SMGs and pistols can also trigger kill cams, including multiple shots in dramatic slow motion.

It's not a bad game per-se. It's actually fairly decent if you don't know just how good SE4 can be when you take the time to learn how to play it on max difficulty. It's just sad to see such a great franchise dumb itself down to pander to a wider audience and ruin what made the previous games so good in the process. Even the max difficulty on this game tells you exactly where to aim. It doesn't show the reticle in the center, but both the wind and gravity indicators are lined up exactly where your shot will land. 1000m shots in this game are less satisfying than 300m shots in SE4.

Sniper Elite 5 is fun, but it's nowhere near worth $60. The only reason I bought this game is because it goes on sale for $12 on a semi-regular basis. Still, it's a fun time with friends. The invasion mode is incredibly tense and shows how easily games can be made tense and interesting without needing constant action. The biggest problem is the map design. The maps are HUGE. They feel a lot bigger than the maps in Sniper Elite 4 and this causes the missions to drag on. The average mission WILL take more than an hour. Easily over 2 hours if you plan on playing stealthy. And because the maps are wide open, a single firefight usually lights up the entire map. This makes playing loud less fun. This game also features the usual Sniper Elite jank: Enemies can often see through dense foliage and other fully-opaque surfaces, so often times you'll be hiding behind a piece of cover only to discover that it wasn't mapped properly and the enemies can see you as plain as day. Speaking of thin...

oh boy where to begin? Pros: 1) Decent Visuals Cons: 1) no controller smoothing and its way harder to aim cuz its so snappy. 2) certain attachments just takes away the realism and immersive feeling from the game. 3) the maps are way too big. honestly felt like walking simulator but 40 hours longer. The only Sniper Elite games I would recommend are Sniper Elite 1-4. Stay away from this piece of dogshit. if you really want it then only buy it when its on sale for under a dollar.

Fell asleep trying to roam the big open map with no vehicle, no fast travel points, and draining stamina. The objectives are spread out so far apart so you spend a lot of time just going from point A to point B. It felt like a Sniper-take of Hitman but with 2x the map size. The gameplay loop is simplistic as hell, so if you're a fan of that, by all means buy this

If you enjoy previous Sniper Elite titles I think this is worth a shot and a play through. It’s more of the same game mechanics, but I feel like they know what we enjoyed about Sniper Elite and ran with it which I appreciate. There are small tweaks here in there, but generally it plays like all the other Sniper Elite games which I appreciate. Graphics are great for its time and it has that bullet cam that is uniquely a part of the Sniper Elite games. Replay value is high as there is different ways to tackle the levels and the enemies. Multiplayer is fun and challenging. I think this is a great addition to the franchise and worth at least one full playthrough. You might find you’ll want to replay levels to come at them different ways. Definitely recommend.

4 was a better game. The level design in 4 was far better. Four was designed as a game about sniping. 5 seems like it was designed to be a generic shooter, that then got the sniper elite tag slapped on it. A lot of the trappings from series are there, it's just the level design that is SO bad for a game about long distance shooting

game is Mid at best, moving around in this game feels really really bad and 'CLUNKY', i have to say its the worst thing about this game, its a big deal to me because moving around shouldn't be this bad but sadly it is, 5/10

Yeah, good game that does a lot of things right but most maps aren’t that good for sniping. If you want to buy it only on sale, but I think Resisance is a better investment bec of the map design.

The environments, design, and set dressings are all on par with the others I played but what really took me out was how weird and buggy the AI was. I know this is a stealth game but when you're caught, enemies run in really uncanny ways to cover or assault. When they run to or switch cover you can almost see code process of stand from cover, choose direction, jog to next position, stop, turn, and reconseal in cover. Animations will also bug out where enemies clip 2ft above their position while they're shooting at you while moving. It's been a long time since I played SE 4, but I do not remember enemies being this strange.
