Orcs Must Die! is an awesome mix of tower defense and action RPG set in a cool fantasy world. It’s one of those rare games that just nails its concept - nothing extra, only what’s needed. I went through every level with 5 skulls on nightmare, got seriously sweaty at times, but had a blast from start to finish
Orcs Must Die! is a dynamic blend of tower defense and third-person action developed by Robot Entertainment, which first made its mark on Steam with a fresh take on defending fortresses against waves of relentless orc invaders. What sets this game apart from traditional tower defense titles is its seamless integration of direct player control—allowing you to actively participate in the battle rather than simply setting traps and watching from a distance. This fusion creates an engaging and often frantic gameplay loop that keeps players on their toes, balancing strategic trap placement with fast-paced combat. At its core, the game revolves around protecting one or more rift points from waves of orcs and other monstrous foes. Players take on the role of a War Mage, armed with a variety of weapons and an arsenal of traps that can be strategically deployed throughout each level. The trap system is both robust and satisfying; it features classic defenses like spike traps, arrow turrets, ...
amazing take on td. 9/10
I never reviewed Orcs Must Die! I have to fix that. I love this franchise. It’s a third-person tower defence game where you play as an arrogant war mage defending against a horde of Orcs. The Devs nailed the concept the first time and while each game has added a little more to the franchise, it is still worth playing the first game if you never did.
This game has had a bug that completely locks you out of playing the game since 2018 maybe even earlier and it's still not been fixed. The button to open the spell book just does not work. Can't recommend a game some people just cannot play
Pretty mediocre first game in the series. Traps are basic, and answers to some enemies are nonexistant alongside the balance of said enemies. Fliers aren't really handled by any traps at all--The electric ceiling trap is worthless most of the time since the ceiling aren't usually able to be placed on anyways and they don't one shot fliers like the description says. Fire Ogres are 30 times more threatening than Ice Ogres since ice isn't even really used besides maybe one weapon, and Fire is used plenty of times in traps, creating an uneven balance between waves. This game also doesn't let you refund upgrades on skulls spent, so if you spend money on an upgrade for a trap you later realize isn't the greatest, you're shit out of luck and the skulls are wasted on whatever you bought. This leads to the other bigger issue that i also saw in the 2nd game, that you don't know what's coming from doors and when. This has most people saying "just sell traps and swap sides" but you cannot sell tr...
Good Game
Nightmare mode is not fun. No time to design personal defense formation makes the game through a little boring.
I remember playing this game on Xbox Live Arcade in 2011. It still holds up as a entry level tower defense game. Its not a hard to game to complete as long as you are on top of your defenses. Great Game 8/10
