About This Game

Call of Duty is back, redefining war like you've never experienced before. Building on the Call of Duty 4®: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War immerses players into the most gritty and chaotic WWII combat ever experienced. Players band together to survive the most harrowing and climactic battles that led to the demise of the Axis powers on the European and Pacific fronts. The title offers an uncensored experience with unique enemies and combat variety, including Kamikaze fighters, ambush attacks, Banzai charges and cunning cover tactics, as well as explosive on-screen action through the all new four-player cooperative campaign. The addictive competitive multiplayer has also been enhanced with new infantry and vehicle-based action, a higher level cap, more weapons, and a host of new Perks, maps and challenges.
  • Harsh New Enemies, Environments and Tactics: Face off against ruthless and tactically advanced enemies that will stop at nothing to defend their homelands, from swamp ambushes and tree-top snipers to fearless Kamikaze attacks. Play as a U.S. Marine and Russian conscript across a variety of Pacific and European locations against the fearless Imperial Japanese and elite German soldiers in epic adrenaline-filled infantry, vehicle and airborne missions.
  • Co-Op Campaign Mode, Call of Duty Style: For the first time in the franchise, Call of Duty: World at War introduces co-op play, bringing fresh meaning to “No One Fights Alone”. Campaign co-op features up to four-players online, allowing gamers to experience harrowing campaign missions together for greater camaraderie and tactical execution. Co-op mode incorporates innovative multiplayer components such as challenges, rankings and online stats for deeper re-playability and multiplayer experience bonuses. Co-op mode also features Competitive Co-Op that will show who is really the best player on your team.
  • Enhanced Innovative Multiplayer: Call of Duty: World at War continues the addictive class-based multiplayer action the series is famous for. The addition of vehicle combat with tanks rounds out the highly-successful Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare multiplayer experience, and features such as persistent stats, player rankings, upgradeable weapons, squad-based gameplay, customizable classes and Perks, have been further enhanced to set a new standard in Call of Duty online warfare.
  • Unprecedented Cinematic Quality in a World at War: Built using the Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War utilizes cutting-edge technology including highly-detailed character models, self-shadowing, environmental lighting and amazing special effects to deliver jaw-dropping visuals. Depth of field, rim-lighting and texture-streaming technology bring the adrenaline-pumping combat to life, while physics-enabled battlefields and fire that spreads through environments realistically, immerses players into the harrowing and dynamic combat.

The testosterone boost you get from counter-bonsai charging the Japanese thru a line of smoke armed with an M2 flamethrower while listening to one of the hardest soundtracks any game has to offer goes insane.

DO NOT BUY - THE ONLINE CREATOR HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PLAY ONLINE IF NOT BEFORE THE SHUTDOWN.

This is a classic. Nearly 20 years old and still better than every COD from the past 5 years

The best Call of Duty game ever made, and the last title in the series before it became generic action movie shooter slop. It might even be the best WWII shooter game ever made. I'd argue that at certain points it is more art than game, with its ability to create emotion with its details, soundtrack, nuanced storytelling; this is an artists rendition of what the horrors of World War 2 could have been like for a front-line grunt. Gritty, raw, unapologetic; this game actually makes you feel as if you are in a world that is at war. There will never be another game, let alone another Call of Duty, like this one.

Fantastic game, not only do you get an excellent campaign with good multiplayer... but also simply the best zombie mode ever made. With the option of custom maps (it's the only game in the series that includes this feature) and foreign language voices, this game is fabulous and a must-have. It's a shame that sales have been very rare on Steam lately and that third-party retailers don't offer it either.

After so much delaying in playing this game,I finally got around and finished World At War.And,as expected,it's just as good if not better than people say it is.Its horrifying and brutal portrayal of war fully captures the gloominess and darkness that surrounded mankind in the most devastating conflict the world has ever seen. The essence of what makes war hell is ever-present here, with war crimes, screams of burning soldiers and echoes of crying women and children in what truly seems like hell on earth. There's nothing heroic or noble about it and when comrades and soldiers alike perish, there's no sad music playing or dramatic theatricality. It's just war and people die. The atmosphere alone is a high point in my book.Often, if not all the time I felt depressed and hopeless during the countless desperate attempts of my fellow teammates to capture an enemy stronghold or push forward to victory. The sheer scale of the conflict is shown all around, with burning houses, collapsed build...

WaW is a dark and gritty historical shooter with a fun side mode and a multiplayer so toxic it will brick your PC. works great on linux so long as you don't turn on sync every frame. buy it on sale and if you play multiplayer you WILL get hacked

Not as perfect as the first CoD, but a wonderful FPS nonetheless. The campaign against Japan is just amazing to experience even though your dumb4ss friends will block your movement whenever possible. If you are looking for a good shooter, this is definitely one of them!
