Cube Mission

[h1]A short cube rolling puzzle game that takes mild use of its premise[/h1] [b]As other Nannings titles, [i]Cube Mission[/i] has [url=https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/739206]a free version[/url] available on browser.[/b] Not my favorite [i]kind[/i] of puzzle game, but since I decided to play through and review all Nannings games, here we are. For its sub-genre, it's alright but rather short. Isometric cube rolling game, cube is controlled by arrows / WASD (rebindable) or mouse using controls on the window. Like other isometric games with diagonal movement, it was a bit awkward, since if I forget that 'left' was for north-west instead of south-west, I might fall off the level. Since some levels require some speed maneuvers, so I felt it was necessary to play with keyboard instead of clicks - it can be learned / got used to. [h1]Level features[/h1] Levels are 3-dimensional. There are elevators, cranes, and jumping off to lower platforms. There are moving platforms, timed tile...

A simple execution game, not much of a puzzler as it's not hard to figure out how to solve the 'puzzles', except for a few. Takes about an hour to finish, overall not worth it there are better puzzlers.

36 levels, well-designed, reasonably polished, no blatant glitches throughout the game if you don't count the "thanks for playing" screen[1]. For $2, it's short, sweet, to the point and doesn't drag on. This is basically [url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/bradenbest/recommended/636400/]Cubots[/url], if it were designed properly. Barring some moments where the rules seem to arbitrarily contradict themselves[2], there's no crappy physics engine to be seen, it isn't accidentally a sokoban, and in fact one of the levels was so well-designed that it reminded me of Stephen's Sausage Roll, because it was [b]evil[/b]. I'm talking about the level where you have to take a red cube through several bridges guarded by spike cubes. Good level design. Evil, but good. I wasn't kidding about it being short. My playtime is what it took to 100% complete the game, although it's slightly tainted because I paused for about half an hour to get something to eat. And even with that, I could still theoreti...

I was very disappointed by final levels. Veeery disappointed. Clearly feels like lack of level design artistry. Then what's the point of playing this genre?
