Pros: Good comedy, interesting story, good characters, decent gameplay. Cons: Gameplay CAN be repetitive at times, story leans too much on knowledge of prior release, REALLY should have mouse input. A solid, if slightly flawed, first RPG for the developer. While the gameplay is solid and easy to pick up and play, the interface would really work better in every way if mouse functionality worked. The plot leans heavily on events of the developer's previous game, Max's Big Bust, in a way that can cause confusion to any who haven't played that game. These flaws do not distract problematically from the game's interesting plot, great humor(which continues and enhances the previous game's approach to hanging lampshades on anime and visual novel tropes), and fun characters - you know you've done well in crafting your "rich bitch" character when it makes me want to punch said character through my own monitor. Overall worth your money, but if you haven't already make sure to first buy and pl...

About This Game
Alluna and Brie is a standalone story set directly after the events of Max's Big Bust - A Captain Nekorai Tale. Play as Brie, a spunky pink haired girl who recently gained the ability to magically summon cheese sandwiches out of thin air. That’s it. It’s literally her only power.
AnB:RT is heavily inspired by the Persona series, and features an in-depth time management system. You’ll need to keep an eye on Brie’s mood while you’re working through each chapter’s dungeon, and if you play your cards right you can pursue a relationship with one of 10 potential love interests! Alluna and Brie ReTentacled is a massive 40hr RPG filled with tonnes of content, if you enjoy party based JRPGs or have played any of our other games set int the shared Axon City universe then you’re bound to love this game.
Features:
- Five Massive Chapters to play through, each with unique dungeons to explore and terrifying bosses to conquer. And ReTentacled adds five new bosses as well!
- Strategic Turn Based Combat. Choose a team from a roster of eight magical girls, each with their own skills and strengths, and battle over forty unique enemy types. Combat has been completely rebalanced for ReTentacled!
- A cast of over sixty unique characters, and a dozen ridiculous outfits for Brie to wear.
- Ten different love interests to date, including a pirate, an octopus girl and a busty police officer with flame elemental powers.
- Explore Axon City for the first time! Axon City features six districts and over two dozen different shops to buy from. There's even a day/night and weather cycle which changes what stores and activities are available.
- Play the insect collecting and battling minigame InsectiVirus on your GameCore, or watch the news program Max Heart Minute to find out which store is having a sale. There's a new episode to watch every single in-game day! And InsectiVirus has been reworked in ReTentacled too!
- Visit three Holiday Towns and eat a massive variety of Australian foods, from dim sims and sausage rolls to fairy bread and lamingtons. Head to the pub to grab a chicken schnitty and a beer for lunch, or live exclusively off expensive coffee! The choice is yours.
- Take part in Mermaid Spikers matches, an RPG sports minigame with a mermaid themed twist! Mermaid Spikers in the original game was a buggy mess that made me question all of my life decisions leading up to that point, but in ReTentacled it’s actually fun! It’s like Blitzball from Final Fantasy except you control a team of cute little mermaid girls.

It’s like an indie version of Persona, I’m really enjoying it so far. The characters are funny and there’s a lot to do. It took me a little minute to get used to the controls but I’m glad I stuck with it, this game is great.
Overall Score: 8.6 / 10 Quality: 9/10 High quality; minor issues. It is very clear that the developer put a lot of thought into creating this game! Performance: 8/10 I had some minor issues in the startup menu when clicking with mouse causing the game to crash, but this was solved by instead using the arrow keys. Utility: 7/10 all the options you would expect for this style of game, at first I struggled with the movement inside the 'Frakk' but after some playing around it became simple to navigate all aspects of the menu. Sometimes when selecting battle skills i would confuse myself due to the colour of the selected skills (Dark Blue) causing me in haste of battle to not deliver Alluna with a cheese sandwich (dammit!). Controls: 9/10 intuitive and simple Gameplay: 8/10 This is my first visual novel on steam but certainly a breath of fresh air to the format with all of the Australian touches added to it. The battles were extremely enthralling, and all of the different stores a...
Bought the game for cute magical girls, stayed for JayBubs.
This game is simply a great deal of fun. It has a wonderful sense of humor and is certainly a must play if you played the previous game in the series. The overall structure of the game is an rpg/life sim in the vein of a persona game. Clear the dungeon, level your personality stats, hang out with your friends. Loved every minute I've spent with the game and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Here's a game you don't see everyday; Alluna and Brie is a game that combines the classic interpretation of what Visual Novels are supposed to be with RPG elements in a strange but enticing interlocking of genres. To begin, this game is clearly very packed, with a whole host of content placed throughout, feeling as though many hours in you've hardly scratched the surface. Initially navigating the game takes a bit of learning, with your mouse not functioning as it does for most games, but this is quickly nullified by the actual gameplay itself. Secondly, the character interaction is lighthearted and fun, if you are looking for that sort of a game, this is the title for you. I have to say, it was a nice change of pace compared to a lot of other very heavy Visual Novels. I am working through this title over time, but I can tell already it's going to be a unique and engaging experience in the always expanding world of VNs. Definitely give this title a go if you enjoy games like this.
This games reviews are mostly I feel a bit misleading in that it isn't so much a Visual Novel as it is a dialogue heavy RPG, more in line as with one person said with that of the "Persona" franchise. Regardless, Alluna and Brie makes for a really interesting and engaging title with more than 20+ hours of gameplay and plenty more to explore thereafter. I highly recommend that if anyone is unsure on buying this or not, that they dive right in and get this game, its absolutely a money for value title, but be aware that it certainly isn't the "traditional" Visual Novel you may be looking for.
Like with Max's Big Bust, this game looks like a game that revolves around fan service like Dead or Alive on its surface. Keep in mind that it does have a ton of fan service in it, but it has more than that to it. It's a game created with a lot of love and heart that shows through in its endless charm. This charm comes through in the game's well written dialogue and legitimately funny jokes. This dialogue also improves the best part of this game, its characters. Every one of the characters in this game is likable and charming in their own way. From the ex-drug ring leader magical girl to the flamboyant dancing ghoul (who is unfortunately non-romanceable) all of the characters are wacky in a fun, engaging way. As for the rpg elements in the game, those are serviceable. The battle system was fun to experiment with and it never becomes boring or overly repetitive. It doesn't have a lot of depth, but that's fine because it primarily exists to add variety to the game, not to challenge you...
Great game with a funny story line. Loved the Aussie references and humour, and was well amused by the voice overs in combat. "Back off mate!" I really like the art style of the characters as well, especially their little chibi combat versions, and actually enjoy the combat more than I was expecting. It adds an entertaining break from conversations. The controls were pretty easy to get used to even without mouse support If you enjoy games like persona you should definitely give this a try!
Recommended for any fans of Max's Big Bust (which, of course, is recommended for anyone with an ecchi sense of humor).
